EVENTS
Following the
success of the fruit and vegetable co-operative, launched in Southport
in January, WRVS and Brighter Living Partnership have launched another outlet in Woodvale.
Working in
Partnership with Kings Meadow Children's Centre the project is being run
from Woodvale Community Centre on Meadow Lane between 12.30 and 4pm
every Friday.
The scheme offers residents of North Sefton the opportunity to buy large
bags of fruit, vegetables and salad for £2.50 which would normally cost
around £4.50 when bought through traditional retailers and supermarkets.
The produce is locally sourced where possible and comes in as little
packaging as possible, reducing harm to the environment. The bags
themselves are made from a bio-degradable material and customers are
encouraged to return these to be re-used.
The scheme is open to all residents of North Sefton from Formby upwards
so please come along and support the scheme which is designed to help
people achieve their 5 a day targets on fruit and vegetable consumption.
WRVS are also looking for volunteers to help run this scheme as well as
the one in Southport. Should you be interested or need any further
information on the scheme, please do not hesitate to contact Ian
Mitchell at the Brighter Living Partnership on 01704 501 024 x 205 or
brighterliving@seftoncvs.org.uk or Gill Taylor at WRVS on 0151 933
7278 or gillian.taylor@wrvs.org.uk
